Lio Noah Jakob

About Lio:

Lio Noah Jakob (they/them) is an Austrian dance artist originally from Salzburg, who completed their Bachelor of Arts in Dance and Performance at the Fontys Academy of the Arts in Tilburg (NL) in 2024. Currently based in Vienna, their practice moves between theatre productions, improvisational performance, and interdisciplinary projects, with a focus on contemporary and House Dance, using movement to explore various themes around boundaries, connections and societal and cultural influences.

Lio co-founded the Lîla Collective, through which they research the intersection of contemporary dance and House Dance and create their own pieces. Works such as Patchworks, Silent Collaborators and In Conversation have been developed during residencies at Raw Matters (Vienna), Silk Fluegge KLISCOPE (Linz) and the mentoring programme Territori de Ricerca by Company Gervasi (Vienna), and have been presented at venues such as the Off Theater and Kultursommer Wien. Their solo work patchworks in progress has been shown at festivals and institutions including Tilburg in Motion (NL), PERFORMdANCE (Salzburg) and the Fontys Academy of the Arts.

In dance education, Lio has gathered experience teaching workshops at schools, studios and festivals such as PERFORMdANCE Salzburg and beat1060. Beyond the stage, they are active in the Viennese dance scene through Our House Vienna, co-organising House Dance sessions and workshops, and work as a curator and production manager for festivals including Flavourama Hip Hop & House Dance Festival (Salzburg) and Clubsandwich (Linz). They further contribute to production work for the association MAD / Mellow Yellow in Vienna.
