Vera Djemelinskaia

About Vera:

Vera is an experienced trainer, jazz dancer and intersectional feminist storyteller who specializes in creating choreography for individuals without prior dance training. She choreographs for Fearleaders Vienna, her Feminist Dance Workshop project, and other participatory dance initiatives.

Through her communications work in Austria and Belgium, Vera developed an interest in artistic storytelling methods, particularly in dance theatre, which led her to further her training in the U.S., including at the Berkeley Ballet Theater in California and Steps on Broadway in New York City.

Currently a PhD candidate at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna (mdw), Vera works with the Institute for Music and Movement Education, focusing on how participatory choreomusical experiences can influence collective political perception.

She is also politically active, supporting the Initiative for Dance and Performing Arts Austria (ITBOE) and Scientists for Future Austria.
