Hip-Hop

Man with the Scarf:

Basic Level: My class focuses on groove, rhythm, musicality and the foundation of hip-hop. As we grow together, we will embark on these elements to strengthen the foundation. Through building awareness of our bodies we will increase core control and coordination.

Intermediate Level: I will provide a space to dig deeper and expand our energy through minimalistic movements. Directing our perspectives and vision towards a visual world of story telling and at the same time connecting with the space around us.

Hip-Hop Lab

This intensive will focus on foundations of Hip-Hop freestyle such as Bounce, Rock, Groove. But we won’t stop here. We will get deeper into freestyling with simple concepts, usage of basic steps, and how we can connect with each other as well get into cyphering. We will also touch cultural aspects and how this effects the moves we do in Hip-Hop.

This workshop is open for all levels, but we recommend some basic experience in dance or movement or rhythmic practices. You can come only one day, but both days will be connected, so to get the full experience it is better to book both. Get ready to sweat!

Serge:

Hip-hop freestyle is the one of the essence from African/American dance culture, it’s about the groove, the feeling, the attitude on hip-hop music. In my dance class I will provide basic steps from the hip-hop vocabulary and draw the music with our bodies and the most important is: We will have fun!

See you in my dance class!

Stephanie:

In this class, we focus on mastering the foundations of Hip Hop Freestyle, working with basic steps from different eras—Old School, Middle School, and New School. The goal is not just to learn these fundamentals, but also to explore and play with them, finding your own variations and personal style. Group energy is a key aspect, so we often form cyphers or partner up in pairs. Cyphers, or circles, are an essential part of Hip Hop freestyle, and through them, we learn from and with each other.

However, there’s no pressure—no one is required to enter the cypher.
We also dive into the importance of grooves and musicality, using rhythm as our guide to better understand the movement and culture behind the dance. My aim is to provide a space for growth, connection, and a deeper appreciation of Hip Hop freestlye.
