Heartbeatfacts:
In recent years, a dedicated community has formed around Waving, exploring and expanding the possibilities of the style worldwide. However, its roots can be traced much further back, as the idea of imitating waves has existed in ancient traditional dances — for example, in Bellydance. With the rise of Popping in the 1970s and 80s, Waving became more refined and began to crystallize as a distinct dance style.
Waves can be seen as the transfer of energy through the body. Using isolations, dancers create the illusion of a wave moving seamlessly through different body parts. As you stay in a constant flow of movement, you may even enter a meditative state — calming your thoughts and becoming fully absorbed in the moment. Waving also encourages freedom and self-expression, allowing your personality to shine through the dance.
