Waving

Heartbeatfacts:

In recent years, a dedicated community has formed around Waving, exploring and expanding the possibilities of the style worldwide. However, its roots can be traced much further back, as the idea of imitating waves has existed in ancient traditional dances — for example, in Bellydance. With the rise of Popping in the 1970s and 80s, Waving became more refined and began to crystallize as a distinct dance style.

Waves can be seen as the transfer of energy through the body. Using isolations, dancers create the illusion of a wave moving seamlessly through different body parts. As you stay in a constant flow of movement, you may even enter a meditative state — calming your thoughts and becoming fully absorbed in the moment. Waving also encourages freedom and self-expression, allowing your personality to shine through the dance.

What you get:

The goal of the class is to establish a welcoming atmosphere — creating a space where exploration and letting go are encouraged, ideally allowing everyone to experience the beauty of Waving. At the same time, we will focus on the technical side by working on basic techniques such as arm waves, body waves, and hand waves.
As the course progresses, we will also introduce tools that you can use to unlock your creativity and bring your own personality into the style.
