Joanna Gruberska

About Joanna:

PL/AT dance artist, dance pedagogue. Joanna obtained her BA at Anton Bruckner University in Linz, Austria. She was part of the Erasmus Exchange programme at Institut del Theatre in Barcelona, Spain.

Joanna worked with Kristen van Issum in Tilburg, Netherlands. Interactive dance performance “Anatta” was created in collaboration with visual and sound artist Viktor Delev, performed at Deep Space, Ars Electronica Centre in Linz, (AT). In 2021 Joanna obtained a MA degree in Contemporary Dance Education at HfMDK in Frankfurt am Main, (DE).

Since 2023 Joanna has been based in Vienna, her latest choreographic work “Rhythm Talks” was presented at the Kultursommer Festival that same year.

Class description

Energetic, physical dance class consisting of floorwork, musicality, body awareness and a sense of rhythm. My classes are a mix of coordination and memory training as well as an exploration of body awareness in relation to music, space and gravity. We will use the floorwork technique to activate different dynamics in the body. We’ll be spiraling our weight in and out of the floor, letting gravity guide our movements.

Let the beat of the music influence the dynamics of our movement and take us beyond the frame of a technique. Meta aim of my classes is to facilitate an entry point for an experience of joy and connection to yourself and other participants.
